Busy Spring for IDEA-US

As spring approaches, IDEA has quite a lot happening in the US and Asia. Just two weekends ago we had the inaugural meeting of our Asia Advisory Board in Bangkok. Although I had to Skype in after getting stuck in Japan, the meeting went well. The board is a mix of debate and civil society advocates from throughout Asia and will be extremely valuable in generating new ideas for programs throughout the region. Already we are working on new ideas that will be unveiled this summer.

Coming up, we have a lot going on:

  • March 26, IDEA will be holding two high school debate tournaments in Asia: one in Malaysia and one in Korea. Certain winners will qualify to compete in the United States National Forensic League national tournament.
  • April 1-3, IDEA will be live-streaming debates from the US Universities Championship debate tournament at the University of Vermont.
  • April 8 & 9 IDEA is helping sponsor the annual HWS-IDEA Round Robin Debate tournament. We will also be live-streaming this.
  • April 22-24 IDEA will be training and helping organize a Mandarin and English language debate tournament in Wuhan, China.
  • June 3-5 is IDEA's annual China Open, which features Mandarin debate, English debate and Moot Court.
We are very excited about all of these events and will be posting news/results about them here, in our e-newsletter and on our website. Check in to stay updated!
