Join high school students from around the world this October in The People Speak Global Debates, sponsored by IDEA and the UN Foundation. Last year, students from more than 80 countries participated in this international dialogue about climate change.
This year’s topic is “When it cannot do both, the United Nations should prioritize poverty reduction over combating climate change.” Find toolkits and more helpful information on the website, along with how to register, how to organize the debate, and how to plan more activities! How to participate:
1. Register your team at www.ThePeopleSpeak.org/register
2. Hold a debate in a public setting between October 1st and 31st, 2009 on the topic: "When it cannot do both, the United Nations should prioritize poverty reduction over combating climate change."
3. Earn extra points by creating video PSAs, writing letters to your local representatives, making a difference in your community, and more!
